Big MHS Showing at TechOlympics Gets Big Results

Mason High School had more students than any other area school participate in TechOlympics 2016 - Cincinnati’s premiere technology competition and expo. More than 550 students competed in the three day, two night technology immersion competition - 58 hailing from MHS. Fourteen Mason students also helped run the event as participants of the INTERalliance Leadership Council.
 
Students compete with other schools in challenges ranging from programming to design to networking, with additional fun events like speed texting and the not-to-be-missed gaming throwdown.
 

23 MHS Students Named National Merit Finalists

Mason High School has the most National Merit Finalists in school history. The 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program named 23 MHS students as National Merit Finalists: Julianne Berry, Alexander Chung, Andrew Gao, Clare Hagen, Prajwal Hegde, Kedi Hu, Wenrui Huang, Caleb Kim, Kevin Liu, Divya Manoharan, Dennison Min, Vighnesh Ramesh, Amith Rao, Jeet Shah, Daniel Song, Radhika Upadhye, Divya Vinod, Sriharsha Voleti, Anthony Wang, Hao Wu, Singyi Yen, Alvin Zhang and James Zhu.

Dave Hyatt Chosen As MHS' Official Principal

20 years serving at Mason High school made Hyatt a good candidate for the position especially since he had been working as an assistant principal at the High School before that and in years past had worked as an assistant principal at the Mason Middle School, co-athletic director and Teacher. After the depaurture of MHS' previous principal Mindy McCarty-Stewart Dave Hyatt stepped up for the role of interim principal and was unanimously named Mason High schools official principal February 23rd.

The Mason Shoe Drive

The Shoe Drive is back! The third annual shoe drive will provide shoes to those in need throughout the greater Cincinnati area and will be distributed by both Soles for Souls and the Shoe Connection. The Mason National Honor Society will be collecting gently worn shoes at the high school entrance from Monday, February 29th - Friday, March 4th.  All types of shoes are needed including men’s, women’s, children’s, casual, dressy, athletic and boots. There will be bins at the front entrance, pool lot, and one in each pod on the first floor. 

OCTM Mathematics Tournament

Februrary 27th, 2016 the Mason math team will be competing at the OCTM mathematics tournament. The OCTM Mathematics Tournament is an annual tournament sponsered by the Ohio Councels of Teachers of Mathematics. The tournament is open to all Ohio public, private and home-schooled students grades 9-12. Top scoring students recieve awards and may recieve scholarship oppurtunities. 

42 Mason Students to Compete at UC Science Fair

On March 19, 42 Mason City Schools students will present their projects during the 12th Annual UC Science and Engineering Expo. Students from school districts across southwest Ohio will present at this event for scholarships and other awards.  Mason Middle School and Mason High School students who earned a superior rating at the January 28 Mason Science Fair were eligible to attend the UC fair.
 

MHS Band Performs in 2016 Rose Parade

The William Mason High School Marching Band rang in the new year with a 5.5 mile trip down Colorado Boulevard in the 2016 Rose Parade. After over a year of planning and fundraising, Ohio’s top band traveled to Pasadena to perform in front of their largest audience of over 79 million parade fans. Taste of Mason 2016

February 3rd, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 PM, join us at the mason high school large commons for the 9th annual Taste of Mason sponsored by Manor House and STUGO. Enjoy culturally diverse food from various food vendors. Watch a variety of multicultural performances. And be sure to visit the second floor to view students artwork that will be on display. Also, experience the Global Carnival, accompanied by the MHS Language Honor Societies, where children can get their passports stamped at each continent they visit.
