WANTED: Science Fair Judges

The 2014 Mason City Schools Science Fair held at Mason Middle School needs judges! The Thursday, February 6, 2014 event hosts approximately 250 middle and high school students, all eager to interact with and learn from members of our community who are interested in science.

3:00-3:45      Snacks Provided for Judges(Pizza and salad)
3:30              Meeting with the Judges
3:45 - 6:30     Judging in pairs
6:30 - 7:00     Exhibit open to the public

NHS Hosts Possibly Record Breaking Knockout Game to Raise Awareness

Mason High School’s National Honor Society will organize an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the largest game of basketball knockout to raise money and awareness for The Dragonfly Foundation and a Mason High School freshman, Aidan Glass, who was diagnosed with brain cancer last year.

  All event profits will go through The Dragonfly Foundation to Aidan and his family.

BB4K Raises Money for Disabled

Building Blocks for Kids, a nonprofit organization for children with disabilities, raised about $15,000 at the Walk of Hope fundraiser this Saturday morning. $4,200 was raised by Mason High School algebra teacher Nicole Paxton.
“The Hope Club and I got big donations from running and sports businesses,” Paxton said. “For two years now [the club] has volunteered to help set up and prepare a picnic for [the Walk of Hope].”
