Three Mason band ensembles participated in America's premiere music education festival - the Music for All National Concert Band Festival, March 6-8 in Indianapolis. Mason is the only school district ever to have three ensembles invited to participate at the festival in the same year.
The MHS Wind Symphony, directed by Robert Bass, made its third appearance at the festival this year as one of sixteen featured ensembles; this was the first year for the MHS Symphonic Band, directed by Avious Jackson, to attend as one of eight invited ensembles. The Mason Middle School eighth grade Symphonic Winds, directed by Susan Bass and Jason Sleppy, was one of just five middle school bands that performed at the festival and the first Ohio middle school ever to be invited. The participating schools in all 37 performing ensembles represented thirteen states.
