With 2 minutes to go in regulation, Moeller took the lead at 6-5. With less than 30 seconds remaining, Mason tied the game on a goal by Jordan Barnes and sent it into overtime. 5/1 at Sycamore       link No report
5/5 at CCD won 10-6 8-4 link

The Mason Comets might have been looking past CCD and toward the tougher opponents coming up in Fenwick and Kings. After building a 6-0 halftime lead, they got a bit too comfortable on the lush grass of CCD’s lacrosse field. CCD threatened with five fourth quarter goals to take the score to 8-6 Mason.  Coach Hubbard got them re-focused and the Comets came out and closed the scoring and the door on CCD with 2 final goals to win 10 – 6. Scoring was led by Shannon Slattery with 4 points on 3 goals and 1 assist. Ian Hammeran had 3 goals. Josh Puckett had 1 goal and 1 assist. Evan Armentrout, Jordan Barnes and Alex Engen with 1 goal each. Doug Courts and Andrew Roussos each had an assist. Mason extends their record to 8 – 4 on the season.

5/7 Fenwick won 18-1 9-4 link

The Comets are much more comfortable on their home multipurpose turf. Division 2 opponent Fenwick was a team Coach Hubbard warned against taking too lightly. The Comets responded with an 18-1 drubbing. The offense showed terrific ball movement and patience early on that wore down a solid Fenwick defense. Mason held a 1-0 lead after the first quarter. 9 goals by Mason in the second quarter blew the game wide open and the rout was on. Led by Zach Schaefer, Taylor Craig and Ron Swonger, Mason controlled nearly every face off. Scoring was extensive – Scoring goals were: Peyton Hoge (3), Ron Swonger, Luke Rudd, Ian Hammeran, Evan Armentrout and Jacob Mescher each with (2), Hayden Novicki, Zach Schaefer, Jordan Barnes, Andrew Roussos and Shannon Slattery each with (1). Assists were Jordan Barnes, Josh Puckett and Shannon Slattery with (2) each, Mitch Beebe, Ian Hammeran and Taylor Craig with (1) each. Comets are 9-4.

5/9 Kings won 17-3 10-4 link

It was a great day for Lacrosse. Mason was hosting their rival Kings and it was Senior Day. Seven Seniors were introduced with their parents immediately before game time. Kyle Kom, Taylor Craig, Luke Rudd, Richie Eckenrode, Brent Kane, Jimmy Langlois and Michael Mintz (coaches assistant). Mason scored early and often. The contest was over by halftime with Mason leading 13-3. Kings was shutout in the second half and the final score was 17-3. Senior moments were evident with the 6 players all starting the game as well as playing together for the final 2 minutes. Josh Puckett had a big game recorded 6 points – 5 goals, 1 assist, Shannon Slattery  – 4 goals, Jordan Barnes – 2 goals, Matt Bertrams, Ian Hammeran and Gabe Schreve each with 1 goal, Alex Engen, Ron Swonger and Richie Eckenrode each contributed an assist. Mason improves to 10-4 overall with 2 games remaining.

5/13 at Lakota East won 10-4 11-4 link

Originally scheduled for 5/13, this game was postponed due to weather. The Comets, coming off a big victory at Loveland and earning a 3rd seed in the state tournament, came out flat and didn’t have much zip on the Lakota grass field. Even when not at their best, the Comets were still too much for the young Thunderhawkes. Mason led 6-2 at the half and finished with a 10-4 victory. Scoring for the Comets was led by Shannon Slattery with 3 goals, Ian Hammeran added  3 assists, Jordan Barnes 2 goals - 1 assist, Doug Courts 2 goals, Andrew Roussos 1goal – 1 assist and Evan Armentrout and Ron Swonger with 1 goal each. The Comets finish the regular season with a 12 – 4 record. They host Loveland in the first round of the State Tournament.

5/15 at Loveland won 12-8 12-4 link

This was a defining game for Mason Lacrosse. Loveland held all the advantages – they had beaten Mason in their last two meetings, it was a home game, it was on grass and it was senior night. Prior to the game Loveland introduced the 13 seniors that play on varsity – quite a bit of experience and they were used to beating Mason. This night Mason defined their season with a gutsy effort. Mason scored first and built a lead but Loveland kept it close – thanks to solid defense and some sloppy ball control by Mason. At the half the Comets held a 5-4 lead. The second half was a better effort for the Comets and they built their lead to 10-6 and ultimately won 12-8. Scoring for the Comets was led by Jordan Barnes with 5 points on 4 goals – 1 assist, Ian Hammeran with 4 points on 2 goals – 2 assists, Andrew Roussos with 3 goals, Shannon Slattery and Taylor Craig each recorded 1 goal and 1 assist, Josh Puckett – 1 goal and Richie Eckenrode with an assist. Scott Spencer was strong in the goal with 12 saves. Mason improves to 11-4 on the season.
