4/3	Princeton	won	7-0	2-0	2-0	link	The Mason varsity baseball team improved its record to 2-0 with a 7-0 victory of the Princeton Vikings at Princeton on Thursday night. The Comets got a terrific pitching performance from Senior left hander Grant Lewis who scattered 8 hits for the complete game shutout. Lewis was aided by a solid team defensive performance and timely hitting. Seniors Bryan Apking and Josh Stolz led the offensive attack with Apking totalling 3 hits and an RBI and Stolz adding 2 hits and 3 RBI.

4/6	Sycamore	lost	4-3	3-1	2-0	link	The Comets lost a tough one vs. Sycamore on Sunday in the championship game of the Mason Tournament. After falling behind 2-0, the Comets battled back to take a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth on Destul Huff's 2 run homer. The Aviators overcame the deficit in the 7th on a couple of two out base hits. Along with Huff, Bryan Apking had a solid day at the plate, going 2-4 with a double.
4/7	Colerain	lost	12-4	3-2	2-1	link	The Comets jumped out to an early lead at Colerain Monday with 2 runs in the top of the first inning, but defensive lapses and clutch hitting by Colerain led to a 12-4 defeat. Bryan Apking and Josh Stolz continued their hot hitting with three hits a piece, with Stolz adding two RBI. Junior Catcher Destul Huff also had another solid day behind the plate defensively. Huff also drove in two runs at the plate.

Grant Lewis had another strong performance, going 6 innings for the victory. Bryan Apking got things going in the first with a lead off HR, and Nick Kowalczyk and Ryan Collins both added two hits a piece.

The offense was paced by John Desotelle's three hits and Destul Huff's two hits and two RBI. Alex Martinez also added a big 2 RBI single.

4/14	Fairfield	won	6-3	6-4	5-1	link	The Comets improved to 5-1 in the GMC, 6-4 overall with a 6-3 victory over Fairfield Monday night. Grant Lewis had his third impressive outing of the season, going the distance for the victory. Nick Kowalczyk had another solid game, going 2-3 with 2 runs scored.

4/15	Middletown (makeup)	won	15-5	7-4	6-1	link	The Comets used solid starting pitching and the long ball to cruise to a 15-5 victory over conference rival Middletown last night. Junior Patrick Koman picked up his second victory of the season with 4 solid innings of work. Juniors Destul Huff and Devon Davis, and senior Bryan Apking all went deep for the Comets.
4/16	Fairfield	lost	5-2	7-5	6-2	link	The Comets dropped a tough one in GMC play last night at Fairfield 5-2. Defensive struggles and mental mistakes opened the door for a couple timely hits for the Indians. Jordan Besecker went the distance on the mound to take the loss. Josh Stolz drove in both Comet runs on the evening.
4/18	Oak Hills	won	9-8	8-5	7-2	link	The Comets notched a stunning come from behind victory Friday vs. Oak Hills by a score of 9-8. Trailing 8-1 in the 4th inning, the Comets chipped away before scoring 4 in the bottom of the 7th inning, 3 of those runs coming on a dramatic HR by Bryan Apking to tie the game. Grant Lewis doubled home Derek Cox in the Bottom of the 8th for the victory. Relief pitching was another key to the win as Ben Lause, Kyle Dooley, Dan Crowley, and Apking held the Highlanders at bay to allow for the comeback. Apking pitched the 8th for the victory.
4/21	Oak Hills	won	15-8	9-5	8-2	link	The Comets outlasted Oak Hills last night 15-8 in a slugfest at Oak Hills. The Comet offense was balanced throughout the lineup with each starter notching at least 1 RBI. The Comets were paced by a pair of 3 run HR's by Josh Stolz and Destul Huff, while John Desotelle added three hits and 2 RBI. Bryan Apking picked up his second win in relief.

4/25	Lakota East	lost	5-4	9-9	8-5	link	The Comets fell to Lakota East 5-4 Friday night. Jordan Besecker pitched for the Comets did well and John Desotelle had another multi hit game, but two great defensive plays by the Thunderhawks thwarted two Comet rallies.
4/26	Warren County Tournament Carlise	won	4-1	10-9	8-5	link	The Comets got back on track with a 4-1 victory Saturday @ Carlisle. Derek Cox led the way on the mound, going the distance and recording 10 K's. John Desotelle and Josh Stolz each had tow hits, while Grant Lewis finished the day 3-3.
4/26	Warren County Tournament Franklin	won	9-2	11-9	8-5	link	Mason recorded their second win of the day with a 9-2 win against Franklin. Kyle Dooley threw a complete game to earn his first victory of the season. Bryan Apking and Ken Jarrett led the offensive attack.

4/28	Lakota East	won	6-5	12-9	9-5	link	The Comets claimed a tough 6-5 win over Lakota East on Monday. Rain shortened the contest to 5 innings, but the Comets made the most of their opportunities, coming back from a 2-1 deficit on the strength of HR's from Bryan Apking and Grant Lewis. Lewis also went the distance on the mound to record his 4th win of the season.
4/30	Hamilton	won	7-6	13-9	10-5	link	The Comets won their fourth game in a row Wednesday in exciting fashion, overcoming a 6 run deficit to defeat the Big Blue 7-6. Derek Cox threw 4 and 2/3 innings of sparkling relief to allow for the comeback. The Comets scored all 7 runs in a dramatic 5th inning that included two big pinch hits by Devon Davis and Alex Martinez

5/5	Sycamore	won	9-8	14-9	11-5	link	The Comets won another game in dramatic fashion vs. the Aviators by coming from behind with 2 outs in the 7th inning to win 9-8. Mason jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but Sycamore battled back to take an 8-6 lead going into the 7th. The Comets were able to get a couple runners on base to allow Scott Klever to belt a 3 run HR to give the Comets the lead for good. Klever finished with 3 hits and 4 RBI. Devon Davis also had a strong day at the plate collecting 3 hits of his own with an RBI. Grant Lewis came out of the bullpen to pick up his 5th victory in 6 decisions.
5/6	Hamilton (5/2 makeup)	won	13-1	15-9	12-5	link	The Comets won their sixth game in a row Tuesday night at Hamilton 13-1. Ben Lause went the distance for his second victory of the season. A very balanced offensive attack supported Lause's effort with several players contributing at the plate. Destul Huff was 2-4 with 2 RBI, Devon Davis 2-4, Grant Lewis 2-4 with a 3B & HR and 4 RBI, Ryan Collins 3-4, and Bryan Apking 3-5.

4/8	East Central	lost	5-2	5-2	4-0	box score Mason suffers its second loss of the season against East Central Tuesday April 8, 2008 When scheduling games outside of conference play, Coach Brian Castner always tries to find opponents that are challenging. East Central from Indiana is no exception. With two strong pitchers, a solid defense and a good mix of batters the East Central team came to Mason prepared to test the Comets on their home field. Colleen Reinoehl suffered her first loss of the season, allowing 6 hits and had 6 strikeouts. The Comets started rallying in the 5th inning with a single by DJ Engelman that brought in Christin Miller and L’Ana Jackson. Realizing the Comets were about to capitalize, the EC team quickly replaced starting sophomore pitcher Eckstein with senior hurler Purdue to try and stop the Comets offensive attack. On the next at bat, a good heads up play by the East Central defense caught two Mason Comet runners off guard and the Comets managed to get caught in a double run-down situation ending the inning. East Central had a second scoring opportunity in the 7th bringing in two more runs to end the game at a 5-2 loss for the Comets. When asked about the loss, Coach Brian Castner responded, “Every team we will face in Tennessee will be tough competition. The loss we suffered today brought up situations we need to work on and in the long run that will help us to prepare for this weekend and the rest of the season in the GMC,” coach Brian Castner explained. The Comets face GMC opponent Oak Hills on Wednesday and then have one day of rest before heading out of town for the Gibbs Invitational in Knoxville, Tennessee. Offensive notes: Offensively the Comets had 8 hits: with Jackson 2-4, Wills 2-3 and players Miller, Roark, Engelman and Allen all contributing one hit.

4/11	Gibbs Invit. Beech HS	won	3-1	7-2	5-0	. The opening game with Beech saw the Comets jump out to a quick lead stringing together much needed hits and outscoring the 2nd ranked team 3-1. Hitters for the Mason team included Miller 2-2, Jackson 1-2, Sheppard 1-2, RBI, Engelman 1-2 RBI, Wills 1-2, RBI box score

4/12	Gibbs Invite Soddy Daisy HS	won	1-0	8-3	5-0	Soddy Daisy proved a tough opponent, as both teams were able to only get two hits during the game. The Comets were able to squeak out the only run of the game in the 4th inning when Katie Wills sliced the ball to right field that enabled L’Ana Jackson to come home for the Mason victory. Sara Rye and Jackson had the only hits of the Mason game for the Comets with Wills getting the RBI. With the score 1-0 the Comets gave Soddy Daisy their first loss of the tournament. They went on to get eliminated by Beech during bracket play. box score
4/12	Gibbs Invite Alcoa HS	won	7-5	9-3	5-0	One of the more exciting games was against Alcoa where the Comets saw themselves down 5-1 with not much time left on the clock. Mason once again proved that the Comets know how to come from behind. Kristin Pursel and Amanda Allen drew two very important walks to help setup the Comet victory. Sara Rye connected with a single to load the bases. After a controversial call at home, the Comets were left with two outs, bases loaded and were still behind 5-2. McCall Sheppard connected with a 3 run double to tie the game and DJ Engelman followed up with her first HR of the Comets season to cinch the win. Offensively Jackson was 2-3, Sheppard 3-3 3RBIs, Engelman 2-2 2RBI, Rye 1-2 with Pursel 2 walks, and Allen 1 walk. In the circle the Comets had Colleen Reinoehl, Catilin Rausch and Christin Miller combine for the win against the Alcoa team. box score

4/14	Princeton	won	14-0	11-3	6-0	After coming off the successful road trip to Tennessee, the Comets dominated the Princeton Vikings on their own field. In only 5 innings of play the Comet team allowed only two Viking hits while racking up a whopping 15 hits of their own. In 5 innings of play the Comets outscored the Vikings 14-0. Colleen Reinoehl took the win for the Comets with 7 strikeouts and only 1 walk. Holding Princeton scoreless, Mason hitters included Miller 3-3, Jackson 2B, Engelman 2-4, Wills 3-4 2B, Mountsier 2-4, 2B, Rye 3B. NO BOX REPORT

4/18	Fairfield	won	5-4	12-5	7-2	The Mason Comets came back strong after being off on Thursday to have a 5-4 win against the Fairfield Indians. The Comets bats came alive early scoring 2 runs in the first inning. Christin Miller started off with a hit for the Comets and came in to score when L’Ana Jackson hit a hard shot triple down the first base line. McCall Sheppard followed with a ground out single to score Jackson. In the 4th inning the Comets got on the scoreboard again as centerfielder Sheppard wrapped a single and DJ Engelman and Katie Wills followed with back-to-back doubles. Wills scored on a ground out by Katie Mountsier to bring the Comets up 5-0. The Indians found themselves in scoring position after getting the first two batters on base with walks in the 6th inning. An error by the Comets allowed the Indians to bring in the first run and then follow up with a second score on groundout making the score 5-2. With two outs in the 7th inning and 2 base runners, Fairfield was able to score again on a double by Fairfield’s Megan Lockhart. Mason Comet McCall Sheppard made a great effort to come in for the catch in Left Center but was unable to hang onto it an two Fairfield runners crossed the plate. A heads up Comets play brought the ball into 3rd base were the Comets defense quickly surrounded the advancing Lockhart to get the third out and end the ballgame at 5-4. Christin Miller was in the circle for the Comets knotching 8 strikeouts, with 3 walks and 2 HP. 4/22	Lakota East	won	1-0	13-6	8-3	Mason faced cross-town rival Lakota East today in a game that left the Comets wanting a few more innings to push the runs across the plate. The Lakota East pitcher, Mills, did a good job of mixing up the pitches and using everything in her arsenal to help stymie the Comets offense. At the end of 4 innings of play the score was 0-1 when the Eagles scored on a double by Lakota’s Lafferty. Although both teams had base runners, no other runs scored. Mason had their best chance in the 7th inning. MaCall Sheppard reached on an error and DJ Engelman followed up with a hard hit shot down the line that the 3rd baseman could not handle. With runners in scoring position and no outs, East decided to switch pitchers with Ballinger taking the circle. Katie Wills laid down the sac bunt to bring Sheppard and Engelman one step closer to home plate. Pinch hitter Linsey Shreve hit a hard ball to the shortstop. The shortstop fired the ball high to the catcher at home for a close play at the plate. The umpire called the runner out, but the call was a controversial because the Mason coach thought the runner got under the tag. During the confusion at the plate, another Mason runner was declared out for abandoning the base path, which ended the game. Christin Miller took the loss for the Comets in the circle. The Comets are regrouping to come back harder against Sycamore and Fairfield later this week. BOX SCORE

5/10	Princeton (5/2 makeup)	won	15-1	19-8	13-5	Sun shines on Senior Day as the Comets dominate Princeton The sun was finally shining and the rescheduled Senior Day game against Princeton got to be played out on Saturday May 10. In 4 1⁄2 innings of play, the Mason Comets dominated the Princeton Vikings with a 15-1 score. The Mason team got on the board in the first inning when leadoff second baseman Sara Rye scored on a groundout by third baseman Katie Wills. In the second inning, the Comets made a huge offensive run plating 6 runs on 3 hits. First to make it around the base paths was MaCall Sheppard. Sheppard was 4-4 on the day with 3 doubles, a single and 5 RBIs. Following Sheppard to home were L’Ana Jackson, Kristin Pursel, Sara Rye, Katie Mountsier, and Katie Wills. The Comets put runs on the board again in the 3rd inning when 5 Comet players were able to cross the plate. The Vikings only run came in the 1st inning when Hope Fletcher was able to advance home on throw down to third base on an attempted steal. Christin Miller and Amy Allen shared the circle during the game with Miller having 5 strikeouts and Allen having 4. 5/19	Mason vs. Oak Hills 3:30 PM @ Fairfield	won	8-2	21-8	13-5	The Girls Varsity Softball team advanced to the district finals by defeating the #25 seed Oak Hills Highlanders on Monday afternoon. The Comets advanced in large part because of the strong pitching performance of Christin Miller, while her teammates backed her up by providing plenty of offensive firepower. Oak Hills, having upset the 4th seeded Harrison Wildcats to advance to the sectional finals, couldn’t overcome Miller’s six strikeout performance as she only allowed 2 runs in seven innings, only one of which was earned. For the Comets, McCall Sheppard led the way as she was 1 for 3 with a double while scoring 2 runs and Christin Miller helped her own cause while going 2 for 3 and scoring 2 runs. BOX SCORE
5/24	District Finals Mason vs. Edgewood @ Lakota East 1:00 PM	won	3-1	22-8	13-5	COMETS TAKE DISTRICT TITLE! The Comets’ were led by Christin Miller who allowed only 2 hits through 7 innings for the Comets’ while striking out 8 on the afternoon. Offensively for Mason, McCall Sheppard paced the Comets with three hits while scoring a run. Additionally, Christin Miller, Katie Wills, Kristin Pursel, Katie Mountsier, Lynsey Carr, and Amanda Allen all had hits for the Comets while Christin Miller, McCall Sheppard, and Erin Roark accounted for the Comets three runs on the afternoon. The Comets advance to face Greater Miami Conference rival Fairfield on Wednesday afternoon at the University of Dayton at 5pm. BOX SCORE
5/28	Regional Semi-Finals Mason vs. Fairfield 5:00p.m. @ UD	won	6-0	23-8	13-5	GIRLS SOFTBALL ADVANCES TO ELITE 8 Once again the Comets’ Christin Miller was lights-out for as she through a complete game 4 hitter while striking out 9 Indian batters. The Comets were led offensively by Li’Ana Jackson who had 2 hits on the afternoon, while Christin Miller, Mary Crone, Katie Wills, Kristin Pursel, Lynsey Carr, and Jackson all crossed the plate for Mason. The Comets’ got on the board first when Katie Mountsier’s base hit in the fourth inning scored Crone. The following inning, Christin Miller started things off with a base hit, advanced to second base on Li’Ana Jackson’s base hit, and then both Miller and Jackson came around to score on MaCall Sheppard’s base hit up the middle. The Comets would tack on 2 more in the sixth, while Christin Miller closed her complete game performance out in the top of the seventh as the Comets’ advanced to the Regional Championship for the second consecutive year. 5/31	REGIONAL FINAL Mason vs. Lakota East 12:00 (tenative) @UD	won	3-0	24-8	13-5	Varsity Softball Returning to State Tournament The Mason Girls Varsity Softball team defeated Lakota East High School 3-0 on Saturday morning at the University of Dayton to advance to the OHSAA State Softball Tournament of the second consecutive year. The Comets were led by Christin Miller’s 12 strikeout, 1 hit performance in the circle. The State Semi-Final game will be held at Akron’s Firestone Stadium at 5:30pm on Friday, June 6th. The Comets’ lost to Elyria 2-1 in the 2007 State Semi-Finals held at Ashland’s Brookside Park . 6/6	STATE SEMI-FINALS Mason vs. Elyria (27-1) 5:30 p.m.@ Akron Firestone Stadium	lost	11-2	24-9	13-5	Lady Comets Conclude Fantastic 2008 Campaign It didn't end the way they wanted, but the Mason Girl's Softball Team put together another season of memories. Appearing in consecutive state semi-finals is an awesome accomplishment that few teams can brag about. On Friday the Comets faced a pitcher that had only lost once this season (27-1). Mason had lost last year to the same Elyria team by a score of 2-1. On Saturday Elyria was beaten in the State Finals 1-0 (10 innings) to eventual State Champion North Canton Hoover. The Comets got their runs in the top of the fourth when Miller led off with a single. One out later McCall Sheppard singled to right center field and then stole second. Wills then hit a screamer through the shortstop's legs allowing both Miller and Sheppard to score cutting the lead to 7-2. Mason didn't get any closer as Elyria added 4 more to their total. The Comets will return with a bevy of experienced underclassman to hopefully compete for another opportunity at a state championship. BOX SCORE

5/22 & 5/24	District Championships @ Princeton H.S.					Hall — who reached the quarterfinals a year ago — lost to Oak Hills senior Alex Turman 2-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (3) in the quarters to finish 18-9 on the season. In doubles action, Eberhard and Shahrestani were victorious over Greenville's Ryan Butts and Patrick Clark 6-2, 6-2 in the first round, but they ran into St. Xavier's Marc Pretorius and Jonathan Gaffney, losing 7-5, 6-2. Eberhard and Shahrestani — who lost in the first round of last year's districts — finished the season 5-3 as a pair after playing second and third singles, respectively, during the regular season.

The Comets worked as a team, and did very well, nearing school records in several events.
4/4	Lebanon Relays (Varsity B) Hilliard Davidson Invite (Varsity A)	3rd out of 14 teams 6th out of 16 teams	This weekend the Comet men had two meets. THE VARSITY B athletes were at Lebanon for the Lebanon Relays, and the Varsity A group was in Columbus for the big Hilliard Davidson Invite. The B group took 3rd overall behind Middletown and Lebanon, whereas the boys at the A meet in Columbus were up against great competition and took 6th overall. Standout performances were produced by Andrew Gaylan Mann at the Lebanon meet in the 300 Hurdles and the 110 hurdles. We also had a great showing from Randall Robinson in the sprint events. At the Hilliard meet the standouts were, Brian Atkinson in the 200 Dash (3rd place) and Naman Rakheja in the 400 dash (placing 2nd overall) Along with our Pole Valuters who were led by Steven Butsch. Our relays did well also, taking several 3rds and 4ths, but finding the 1st spot very elusive. The team is off to a great start and looks to do quite well this year in the Coaches Classic this week.

We qualified more athletes to finals than ever before, and had a great showing on Friday night at Fairfield. The highlights were, Naman Rakheja in the 400 meter dash took 4th place. The 4x400 relay took 3rd place. Brian Atkinson took 4th place in the 200 dash, and so to did our 4x200 relay. The strongest showing was in the 4x800 and the 800 where we were winners in both. The 800 was won by Brendan Caprio, who also anchored the 4x800 relay! The team placed 2nd overall and looks to be a very strong team this year.
4/18	Comet Relays	1) Centerville High School 104 2) Wayne High School 104 3) Mason High School A 94 4) Elder High School 73 5) Lebanon High School 65 6) Chaminade Julienne High 51 7) Sycamore High School 41 8) Withrow High School 29	The team did well, having several strong showings, but the teams from Centerville and Wayne proved too tough. We held our own only finishing a few points back, but were able to only win 2 events on the night, the 4x400 relay and High Jump. This relay was quite fun, as it broke a longstanding school record, and did so against some strong competition. The team also looked very good in the Long Jump and the 4x1600 relay, both squads also placed second. Overall, the team is coming along nicely. We are working for fill a few holes, but right now the team looks as strong as it has looked in years. Great senior leadership and a strong distance core has allowed us to enjoy some very early success.
4/25	Edwin Moses Relays	1st - Trotwood Madison 2nd - Centerville 3rd. - Wayne 4th - Mason	The boys Track Team traveled to Dayton for the Edwin Moses Dayton Relays. The boys had some great races, setting school records in 3 events. The 110 Shuttle Hurdles, the 1600 Medley Relay, and the Distance Medley Relay. Brendan Caprio was the man at this meet being a part of 2 school record setting relays in 30 minutes, and running stellar splits on both. The team also had a great meet out of Brian Atkinson who ran great in his events and continues to shine as a Senior. The team placed 4th overall out of 21 teams behind some very tough competition.
5/2	Wayne Invitational	1. Wayne 2. Lawerence Central, Indiana 3. Miamisburg 4. Mason	The team traveled north again this week to Huber Heights Wayne. This meet was also very competitive, with some of the best individuals in the state being present, along with a very talented team from Indiana. The standout of the night had to be Zach Wills who blitzed a 9:37 in the 3200 and left the rest behind in convincing fashion. After returning from a mild injury, he looked great and wowed the crowd with this performance. The team also got good output from Taylor Celestin who racked up points in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, along with once again Brendan Caprio who was part of the 4x800 squad, 2nd place in the 800 and part of the 3rd place 4x400 team. The team did well overall, but we still have a lot of work to do before the GMC meet.

5/9	Mason Invitational	1ST PLACE	The Mason High School Boys and Girls Track and Field programs hosted the 2008 Rod Russell Invitational Track Meet on Friday, May 9th at Mason Middle School. With the event fielding some of the strongest competition in the history of the meet, both the Comet Boys and Girls teams claimed the meet’s overall team titles. The Boys outscored Huber Heights Wayne High School (3rd at 2007 OHSAA State Meet) 137-105. Meanwhile the Girls out lasted the 2007 OHSAA State Meet Runners-Up Collinwood High School (Northeast Ohio) 165-76. On the boys side, Head Coach Chip Dobson’s team faired just as well finishing in the top 5 in 14 of 17 events, including first place finishes in four events. The Rod Russell Invitational was the final meet of the regular season for both the boys and girls teams as they’ll complete in the 2008 Greater Miami Conference tournament this Wednesday and Friday at Fairfield High School. 5/12-5/16	GMC Championships	1st Place	The Boys Track Team captures the GMC TITLE! They broke a string of 8 Middletown wins in a row! The team was led by Zach Wills who was named Athlete of the meet! Winning both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. The team also won the 4x800 meter relay, and had top finishes in the 800 meter run (Brendan Caprio) the 3200 Meter run (Wills and Matt Larcomb) and strong efforts were also turned in by Brian Atkinson, Naman Rakheja, Chris Agomuo and Niro Wimalasena. IN the field events, Jermaine Eppert placed well in both the High Jump and Long jump, along with the combo of Van Winkle and Butsch in the Pole Vault who combined for 11 big points. Kendrick Davis was the GMC champ in the Shot Put, and Tom Grant had a big day and placed 3rd overall int he discus. GREAT JOB, on a GREAT MEET!!

5/28-5/30	*Regional Championships* @Welcome Stadium-Dayton, OH		5 Comets Qualify For State Track Meet Five Mason Track and Field Athletes qualified for the OHSAA State Track and Field competition on the first day of the Regional Meet at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium. Lindsay Ossim qualified in the discus throw for the Comets on the girls’ side, while the boys 4x8 team of Brendan Caprio, Matt Larcomb, Tim Huesing, and Zack Wills also advanced. Additionally, the Rachel Weber and Chelsea Vanhook (400 meter dash), Erin Milner and Rachel Harley (100 and 300 meter hurdles), girls 4x1 team of Sarah Hunter, Brittiany Betts, Erin Milner, and Stephanie Bohanon, as well as the girls 4x4 team of Rachel Harley, Molly Culbertson, Rachel Weber, and Megan Frye all qualified for the Regional Finals on Friday, May 30th. On the boys’ side, 4x2 team of Junior Mapati, Niro Wimalasena, Brian Atkinson, and Naman Rakheja all advanced into the Regional Finals on Friday. Naman Rakheja also qualified for the Regional Finals in the 400 meter run. All other event semi-finals and finals will be held on Friday, May 30th at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium.
6/6	State Championships	21st place	ZACH WILLS WINS A STATE TITLE Freshman Zach Wills won an individual state championship in the the 3200 meter run. . Wills time of 9:15.34 set a new school record. Zach adds this individual accomplishment to his 4th place finish this past fall at the State Cross Country Championships. CONGRATULATIONS ZACH ON THIS OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENT! Congratulations also to Mason's 4x800 meter relay team of Brendan Caprio, Naman Rakheja, Tim Huesing, and Zach Wills who finished 8th overall with a time of 7:57.82.

Sarah Hunter broke the Long Jump School Record with a Jump of 17' 0'. the previous record was held by Natalia Wood (2004) with a jump of 16' 11". Kierstin Wones won the Pole Vault with a Jump of 9'6" Lindsay Ossim won the Disc with a Throw of 122' 0" Girls 4 x 800m Relay won with a time of 10:04. Stephanie Chaney, Kirsten Mccafferty, Molly Culbertson, and Emily Staresinic teamed together for the win.
4/4	Lebanon Relays varsity B	3rd (12 teams)	Our varsity "B" team took to the track next on Friday, April 4th at the Lebanon Relays. We placed 3rd out of 12 teams with 65 pts. 5/9	Mason Invitational	1ST PLACE	The Mason High School Boys and Girls Track and Field programs hosted the 2008 Rod Russell Invitational Track Meet on Friday, May 9th at Mason Middle School. With the event fielding some of the strongest competition in the history of the meet, both the Comet Boys and Girls teams claimed the meet’s overall team titles. The Boys outscored Huber Heights Wayne High School (3rd at 2007 OHSAA State Meet) 137-105. Meanwhile the Girls out lasted the 2007 OHSAA State Meet Runners-Up Collinwood High School (Northeast Ohio) 165-76. On a dreary and rainy night at the Mason High School Track at Dwire Field, Girls Head Coach Tony Affatato saw some of the teams best performances of season as senior Rachel Harley ran a tough race against Collinwood’s Amber Smith in the 300 Meter Hurdles, finishing 2nd by .03 seconds. Coach Affatato’s team claimed first place in 6 of 17 events. The Rod Russell Invitational was the final meet of the regular season for both the boys and girls teams as they’ll complete in the 2008 Greater Miami Conference tournament this Wednesday and Friday at Fairfield High School.
