Fiber Arts I

This course introduces fibers as a medium for creative self-expression. Students will use a wide variety of fiber and fabric techniques to develop technical assurance and a great aesthetic sophistication in order to give voice to their artistic vision. Included in this course will be the exploration of embroidery, beadwork, drawing on velvet and painting on silk. This course is recommended for students who not only enjoy sewing but for those who are looking for an exciting new medium for self-expression. Students will be expected to provide some materials.

Fiber Arts II
(.5 credit)
This advanced studio course emphasizes personal expression through various fiber media. Students will explore more in-depth techniques of surface design, which may possibly include an exploration of shibori surface designing, felting, enameling, hand-made papermaking, mask making, and bookbinding. Students will be expected to provide some materials.
