Mason's new Model United Nations club has been doing very well this year. In February, they held a practice conference at Mason in order to organize a more formal event with a couple of local schools for next year. Students from Lakota West and East attended, and the conference ran smoothly under the guidance of our members and was a good learning experience for all. We will be attending a conference at Lakota West next month that will help this club build more ties and finalize logistical and creative needs for a more formal multi-school event next year.
This past weekend, they went to Oxford on Saturday and Sunday to participate in the Miami University MUN conference. They went to the conference with a mixture of experienced and new delegates (who were deftly trained by our less-than-a-year-old veterans), and the experience affirmed that they are heading in the right direction with Mason's new club. Mason's MUN club hopes to go to three such conferences next year.
Two of our comet students were honored in the closing ceremonies:
Stuart Stones and Michael Hakes both won an Honorable Mention Delegate mention.
Please congratulate them for a job well done. They deserve it!
