Starting the Speech and Debate Season

September 11, 2014—The Speech and Debate season is underway. Starting on September 15th, new members will gain information for the season. As for returning members, September 22nd begins their season.
Melissa Donahue, one of the team’s advisors, is eager to begin.
“I feel like we are off to a great start,” Donahue said. “We have a wonderful group of officer and event leaders that are so organized. They know what they need to do from the start of the season.”
The officers consist of Myra Gupta, Jenny Zheng, Ruby Liu, Andrew Gao, and Ajay Saraf. According to Donahue, these are only a select few of the projected numbers for this season.
“We are hoping to have around 100 members for this upcoming year, around the same size as last year’s team,” Donahue said.
That is not the team’s only hope, though.
“Hopefully, we get a lot of state qualifiers and kids back to nationals this year,” Donahue said. “I can only expect great things.”
