On behalf of the entire board, we want to thank all those people who are making these changes go smoothly. I am very confident in our administration’s leadership and in our staff. We have the ability to take on challenges that are very complex and to tackle those challenges in a way that is very effective.

The Board also re-appointed Courtney Allen as its Student Achievement Liaison, and Matt Steele as its Legislative Liaison.

January is School Board Appreciation Month

Boards of education are a mature and tested institution in Ohio. School board members make policy; approve contracts with employees; choose curriculum; adopt budgets; and select a superintendent and treasurer to administer the district. They do all these tasks with the emphasis on what’s best for the children they serve. Being an effective school board member is no easy task, particularly in today’s climate of change and challenge. To face these demands of governing our public schools, they give countless hours of personal time.

On January 22, Mason City Schools students will recognize School Board Appreciation Month during a special presentation at the 7:00 board meeting.
