MHS Math Team Knows Value of Number 1
The Mason High School math team placed first in the Ohio council of teachers of mathematics tournament on February 23rd. 97 teams participated in the state wide competition. Team scores are based on the to[p four individual scorers for each school. Southwest Ohio dominated the competition, and Mason led the way with 130 points. Lakota West was second with 128, and Sycamore was third with 126. Mason participants were Sharmane Guo, Dennis Tseng, Ray Wang, Randy Tim, Tong Zhan, and Kevin Zhang.
Students earning a high enough score qualify for the Ohio High school Mathematics Invitational Olympiad. MHS qualifiers are Tong Zhan (First place with a perfect score of 40/40), Dennis Tseng (Tied for 6th), Ray Wang (tied for 17th), and Kevin Zhang (tied for 107th). They will participate in OHMIO on April 5th at Capital University in Columbus.
The team is coached by MHS math teacher Colleen Everett. Congratulations to coach Everett and all of the team members. This was another outstanding academic performance by the MHS students, noted Dr. Ann Dinkeller, secondary mathematics curriculum leader.
