MHS Speech and Debate Qualifies for Nationals
Members of the MHS Speech & Debate Team are hoping that what happens in Vegas will have every Mason comet talking! While participating in the Western Ohio National Forensic League (NFL) District Tournament at Sylvania Northview High School, the team qualified two debaters in Public Forum debate and a first alternate in Original Oratory to the NFL National Tournament in Las Vegas, NV, June 15-20. Top honors were awarded to the following students:
Public Forum National Qualifiers
The team of John Carey and Eric Hall
Original Oratory 1st Alternate to Nationals
Joyce Li (also qualified to States this weekend)
5th Place overall in Lincoln Douglas Debate
Kevin Zhang
Mason took sixth place overall in team sweepstakes out of 20 schools.
“This is the third consecutive year for National qualifiers from Mason. We’re so proud of these award-winning students!” said team advisor, Melissa Donahue.
